Sum of £9OO Awarded Against Defendant. United Press Assn.—By Elec trio Telegraph—Copyright. (Received October 4. 2.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, October 4. Holding that the joint defendant. S. Readford,. stud tarm foreman, had not been guilty of negligence, a jury of four, before Mr Justice Stephen, returned a verdict for £9OO in favour of the plaintiff, as against Herbert S. Thompson only in two actions, which were tried together. The action was brought by George Bell, of Rand wick, to recover £SOOO from Thompson and Readford as the result of the death of the thoroughbred mare Sun Dear and a foal at Thompson’s stud farm, at Tarw’in Park.

After the jury had announced that they had found against Thompson in each case, the foreman said that £9OO was the whole amount awarded. The stay of proceedings was granted.
