ARMED SAILORS HOLD CITY
United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. ST PIERRE, August 27. Rioting by the populace as a protest against the imposition of taxes by the Governor resulted in the rushing of two warships to the port and the occupation of the city by armed sailors. A number of citizens have been arrested and sailors are patrolling the streets. The Governor’s action was taken in disregard of a vote of protest by the elected members of the Government Council.
