BIG ACCEPTANCES.

New Brighton Trotting Club’s Meeting. SATURDAY'S EVENTSThe following acceptances have been received for the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting, which takes place on Saturday:

Fast Work on Addington Track. d ™ se hung over Addington early, but after it cleared awav tile weather conditions were perfect for training work this morning. J. S. Shaw and V. A 1 born were the first to work, driving Pageant d’Or and Cannonball, the former giving Cannonball a little over a length in a dash over a mile. With the first half gone in lmin 8 3-ssec, half a length separated them, but once in line for home Shaw gradually reduced the gap. and in a good finish Pageant d’Or had about a head the better of it, going 2min ISsee. Both finished very well. They covered the last quarter in 33 3-ssec. Ruth Logan went away a length and a half in front of Social Pest, with Vesta Rey conceding Ruth Logan 2sec over a mile. In a good finish down the straight Social Pest (on the outside) just beat Ruth Logan by a neck, with Vesta Rey, who got up on the inside, a neck, further back. Ruth Logan went 2min 25sec, and Vesta Rey 2min 23 War Officer went away two lengths in front of Silver de Oro, with War Bird (in saddle) giving Silver de Oro two lengths’ start in a run over a mile and a half, but they were not out on a time mission, as the former pair were eased off to let War Bird finish slightly in front of them. Great Wood hit out nicely while travelling nearly two miles. Cloudy Range’s Effort. Cloudy Range, who appeared a little tender in his front legs, was not asked to do his best while covering two miles. The last mile and three-quarters occupied 4min 13 4-ssec. Agile, going alone, covered a mile and a quarter in 3min Ssec. Checkers and Tangatu were companions in a dash over a mile, the latter having slightly the better of the start. After covering the first half-mile in lmin 16sec, they rattled home over the last half-mile in lmin llsec; taking 2min 27sec, with Checkers on the outside about a neck in front of his rival at the wire. Tondeleyo was worked over a mile and hit out well. Don Chenault, going alone, pleased by the way he finished at the end of a mile in 2min 27 2-ssec, the last round being covered in lmin 53see. He was wide Royal Again, assisted by one of the horses of J. Fraser, sen., went pleasingly over two miles. Margaret Chenault, going alone, and starting very slowly, covered two miles in 4min 51sec. Going the first mile ii> 2min 31 2-ssec, she came home the last mile in 2min 1!) 3-ssee, finishing on very well. She travelled well out on the track. Wrecker had Arodern Girl as a companion over a mile and a half, but just good solid work was the task apportioned them. A Fast Mile. Going, alone, Somerby, who looks in good order, was sent a mile, covering the first half in lmin 9 2-ssec (fairly wide out). lie came home the last half in lmin 6 2-ssec, making 2min 15 4-ssec for the full distance, easily the best time recorded during the morning. White Stranger gave Alajor Brent 4sec start with Wise Guy, and the trotting mare Great Amazon in between them, in a work-out over a mile and a half. With White Stranger going the first mile in 2min 22sec, he had headed them, and, drawing away in the run home, he beat them by ssec, going 3min 31sec for the full journey, and finishing very well. Golden Direct (F. G. Holmes) went away lsec in front of Aristotle (R. B. Berry in saddle) in a sprint over a mile. Keeping wide out, the first half was covei'ed in lmin 15 4-ssec. With the round disposed of in lmin 51 l-ssec a length separated them, but in a good finish Berry just got Aristotle to the wire a head in front of Golden Direct, going 2min 22 2-sseo. The last quarter was run in 31 l-ssec—a good performRenova and Norman Fox went -away on terms 2see in front of Shadow King in a bout over a mile and a half. Renova made a slight skip before a furlong was gone, but otherwise he gave a good showing. He was cased over the

last. 100yds to let Norman Pox finish with him. He went 3min 53see for the full distance and was fairly wide out. Lord Leslie Pleases. Lord Leslie went away a length in front of Lillian Bond in a run over a mile and a. quarter, and, doing it easily all the way, he went the first mile in 2m In' 27sec, and beat Lillian Bond bj two lengths, going 3min 2 l-ssec. Rembrandt, going alone, gave a good exhibition of clean trotting while covering a mile and a half. He went the first mile in 2min 30sec (well out) and the full distance in 3min 44sec. Lone Derby conceded Desert Maiden and a maiden (of J. Fraser, sen.’s) 2sec in a work-out over a mile and a half. With the first mile done in 2min 28 2-5 sec, he was only two lengths away, but once in a line for home he came fast and beat them very easily. He went the full distance in 3min 39sec, easing up. Sister Mary gave Titri nearly 2sec over a mile and a half. With the first quarter covered, Titri was 3 l-ssec in front, but with the mile covered in 2min 33sec (both wide out). Sister Mary was only half a length away, and they raced home in that order. Sister Mary doing it very well in 3min 49sec.
