MIDNIGHT FIRE.
Pilot Fights Flames and Lands Safely. RADIO MAN JUMPS. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received August 28, noon) PARIS, August 27. When a fire occurred at midnight on the Marseilles mail plane, the pilot ordered the wireless operator to jump with his parachute, which he safely accomplished, landing on the banks of the river Lire, despite the darkness. The pilot meanwhile mastered the flames, and despite damage to one of the three engines, descended safely at Lyons Aerodrome.
