Savidan Wins Dominion Event. TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIP. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, August 26. The weather was fine though warm for the NeAv Zealand cross-country championship race this afternoon. Great interest Avas taken in the event and there tvas a large attendance. The race resulted:—
Savidan won by 200 yards from Weller, who beat K. Johnston b\' a similar distance. Wanganui Avon the teams race with 17 points. Otago had 32, Auckland 62, Canterbury 72 and Wellington 73. PRESBYTERIAN CLUB. Five-mile Run to Burwood To-day. The Presbyterian harriers held their run this afternoon from the ShirleyRichmond Presbyterian Church. A trail Avas laid by D. Broughton and W. Brunt through Richmond towards Burwood and circling round back along North Beach trolley bus route, a distance of about five miles, mostly oA’er roads. A special pack of fourteen men was despatched at 1.45, but no results At'ere taken. The results of the packs which ran later were as follows: Slow pack—M. Ritchie 1, L. Wooles 2, H. Collins 3. Intermediate pack—B. Meredith 1, D. Jackson 2, S. Muff 3. Fast pack—N. Trenbath 1. M. R. Robinson 2, M. Ridland and C. C. Gordon (equal) 3. CHRISTCHURCH CLUB. Member? of the Christchurch Harrier Club entertained the “old-timers” of the club this afternoon. A run was held from the Pier Tearooms, New Brighton. A trail of seven miles through Central Brighton and North Beach A\-as laid by L. C. Richards and A. N. Thomas. Results Avere: —Oldtimers’ pack: F. Frye 1, J. K. Martin 2, H. Jacobsen 3. S-loav pack: C. Blackett 1, E. Richards 2, H. No\ - is 3. Intermediate pack: B. A. Barrer 1, S. Wilhem 2, C. Smith 3. Fast pack: B. H. Pannell 1, J. D. Pascoe 2, R. Rogers 3. The closing run will be held next Saturday from the United Tennis Club paAilion, when an open handicap race for the Ladies’ Bracelet will be held: ANGLICAN CLUB. A well-attended run of the Anglican Club was held this afternoon from St Paul’s, Papanui, over a course of four and a half miles laid by L. King and S. H. Barnett. No results were taken.
