ROUND THE DANCES.
The Athletes’ Dance Assembly will bOid its usual dance in the Argonaut Hall to-night. There will be two Monte carlo competitions. . The Herdman-Fisk Dance Band will be playing for the dancing at the Athletes’ Dance Assembly to be held at the Frascati on Monday. . Ev ® ry Saturday night a dance Is held in the Sydenham Football Hall. Old and new dances are included in the programme. The R. 0.1. fortnightly dance will be held in the Railway Social Hall, Carlyle Street, to-night. A grand carnival will be held on Thursday next. In order to celebrate the eighth birthday of the Christchurch Corsair Club. grand concert and dance will be uem in St Mary’s Schoolroom, Park Road, Addington, on Tuesday next. Proceeds are in aid of the church basaar. The Christchurch Telephone Exchange annual dance will be held at the Winter garden on Thursday next. The BallevJlarston Orchestra will be playing for the dancing. The Christchurch City Abattoir annual ball is to be held at Frascati on Thursday. August 31. Cowlin s Orchestra will be playing. The annual Red and Black (Christchurch Football Club) ball will be held at the Winter Garden on Wednesday, September 6. The Harewood Hockey Club’a annual ball and flag 500 evening will be held t. n *b fc ernor * a * Hall, Papanui, on SepAt the Dorothy Hall this evening, the Modern Dance Assembly will hold its usual dance. The Evans-Campbell Band will provide the music. The Monte Carlo winners will receive a cash prise of half a guinea. Mr W. Hall will be M.C. A special feature of the old-time danc* at the Caledonian HaII next Mornlav evening will be the presentation of Mr Dave M’Gill in songs, and the Lawrence sisters in tap dancing. The EvansCampbell Band will provide the music and the gallery will be open for spectators. The combined drapers’ masquerade and fancy dress ball, to be held at the Winter Garden on Tuesday, September 12, in aid of the Mayor’s Relief of Distress Fund, is arousing widespread interest. its success being already assured. The Mayor and Mayoress (Mr and Mrs D. G. Sullivan) will be the guests of honour and they have consented to lead the grand parade. Messrs I’. Burke and Co. have generouslv offered the use of the Winter Garden free of charge and have also undertaken the catering for the occasion. A prise for the best fancy dress has been donated by Messrs Beath and Co.. Ltd., another being offered by the D.1.C.. Ltd., for the best poster dress. Mrs Guy Cotterill has been invited to judge the costumes. It is thirteen years since the combined drapers held a ball. The last was in the King Edward Barracks in honour of the Prince of Wales In 1920. Tickets are procurable from the leading drapery
