Hagley Club. The second qualifying round for junior and senior championships was played at Hagley to-day concurrently with the stroke handicap. The best cards returned were:—
Christchurch Club. In the final of the Campbell Cup H. W. Macfarlane beat L. J. Taylor 3 and 2. In the final of the Denniston Cup M. K. Gray beat A. R. Blank 6 and 4. Richmond Hill Club. The Canadian foursomes (bogey handicap) resulted:— R. B. M. Bassett and E. G. Pidgeon (4) 4 down. 11. J. Gosset and E. S. Pender (15) 5 F. J. Glackin and M. Cheshine (13) 6. down. F. J. Glackin, jun. and B. I. Bassett (13) 6 down. E. T. Salveson and R. 11. T. Hamilton (11) 7 down. Russley Club. The annual match between the ladies and the men took place at Russley this afternoon, and produced a close contest. The men, who conceded thfc ladies three strokes, won by 24 games to 22. The final for the Tosswill Cup resulted in a win for H. F. Penlington, who heat F. D. Jones over 36 holes, 9 and 7. Playing in the stroke handicap at the Hagley golf course this afternoon, J. A. Redpath, a junior player, put up a remarkably fine performance, returning a card which read : 83—24—59. The par for the course is 66. Redpath played consistently right through, and did not fail with any of his clubs, despite the trickiness of the going.
