Relief Pay Finance.
Dear Sir, —Can you or any of your readers tell me how the Labour Department arrives at its decisions in granting work to relief workers? Take a man with one of the family working earning £2 per week, and £1 per week rent, four of a family, husband, wife, spn and daughter. Howmany days’ work is he entitled to, and what would he be entitled to with no rent to pay; and what is a man entitled to with two of the family working, earning between them £1 10s per week—husband, wife (son and daughter both working), rent 15s and what would the difference be if there was no rent to pay. and the difference again if the rent was 255? What allowance is mad* for each child not working? Is there any penalty for a relief worker not paying his rent and stating that he pays his rent?—♦ I am, etc., BOGGED.
