BAD GOLF HIT.
Costs American Player 750 Dollars. NEW YORK, July 22. Justice Nicholas M. Pette, sitting in a Municipal Court in New York, ruled that a woman who had been struck by a golf ball while driving her automobile along the highway was entitled to damages, and that driven golf ball was a dangerous and destructive object. lie awarded 750 dollars to Anne B. Gleason, who brought suit for 1000 dollars against the Hillcrest Golf Club, and Arthur J. Knorr, theatrical production manager, who drove the ball. Ivnorr pleaded that a gust of wind had carried the ball off the course and contended that the accident was “ an act of God.” Justice Pette. in finding against both defendants jointly, ruled Knorr had sliced badly, and in his decision indicated a slice was no “ act of God.”
