The film is reported to be one of the most entertaining British comedies yet released. The dialogue is exceedingly clever, and the numerous intriguing situations keep the audience keyed up the whole time. “ Their Night Out ” tells the story of a young man who, in order to take a woman buyer to her first night club, breaks off a theatre engagement with his wife, mother-in-law and father-in-law. Following a police raid, he arrives home in the early hours of the morning very drunk and penniless, his pocket-book having been stolen by a ravishing dancer into whose clutches he had fallen. The following morning he explains to his irate mother-in-law that he was prevented from keeping the theatre engagement through having an appointment with a well-known business and society man. This statement lets him in for enough excitement and trouble to last him a lifetime, for the morning papers report that the man whose company he said he had been in has been arrested for burglary. His mother-in-law and a butler, who has a passion for criminal detection, immediately presume him to be the master-mind. who. according to the police, escaped. Following his arrest and release on bail, he is overwhelmed by the remainder of the gang, who offer to help him, but instead of doing this they involve him in a series of nightmare predicaments in which the lady from Aberdeen. the ravishing dancer, the vitriolic mother-in-law, his wife, members of the police force, and a valuable pearl necklace play a large part. Supporting Hulbert and Renee Houston, who is the girl from Aberdeen, are Jimmy Godden, Amy Veness. and many other well-known English comedy stars. The picture is clean, bright fun from start to finish. Box plans at The Bristol.
