Town Fifteen to Meet the Country Side Chosen. MATCH NEXT WEEK The following Town team has been chosen to play the Country team in the annual match on Wednesday, July 26: G. T. Nolan (H. 5.0.8.), G. F. Hart CCh.ch.), C. J. Oliver (Mer.), W. Brown (Syd.), R. Hazelhurst (Syd.), G. D. Innes (Syd.), G. Stevens (Lin.), A. I. Cottrell (Ch.ch.), A. Bowes (H. 5.0.8.), R. K. King (Syd.), J. E. Manchester (Ch.ch.), G. J. Howell (Alb.), F. Foley (H. 5.0.8.), A. M. Hartnell (Vara.), A. H. Andrews (Vara.). Owing to A. Brownlee, of Linwood, not being available, F. Foley, of Old Boys, was chosen in his stead. The team will begin training in the Barracks at 7.30 p.m. to-morrow.

CANTERBURY UNION. Knock-out Competition to Start Next Saturday. The Management Committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union met last evening, Mr A. E. M’Phail presiding. On the recommendation of the Competitions Committee, it was decided that the final round of the championship should be played next Saturday to determine the runners-up. It was also decided that these matches should he '■ounted as the first round of the Challenge Cup knock-out competition, the semi-final and final games to be played vn August 5 and 12. Permission was granted the Albion and Linwood Clubs to play their match on July 29, to enable a combined team from these clubs to visit Hokitika next Saturday. It was agreed that the Old Boys-Var-sity match should be played at Rangiora next Saturday with the object of stimulating interest in North Canterbury. The condition was made that the North Canterbury Sub-Union pay half the transport expenses. It was decided that the names of six referees be forwarded to all unions playing Canterbury this year, for selection for representative matches, in the event of outside referees not being ap- < pointed. The Bromley and Richmond Clubs were granted permission to withdraw their fifth grade A teams from the competition. Charges for representative matches ( of 2s, including tax, for the enclosure, and Is for the embankment, were decided on. Saturday’s Matches.
