Man Seriously Injured at Auckland. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 7. A collision occurred at a dangerous ■ corner in Parnell between two motor- ! cars, one being capsided. The passen- ! cars, one being capsized. The passeni single, aged fifty-four, had his neck pierced by a steel curtain rod of the car. The rod entered one side of the [ neck below the ear, emerging on the

other side. A hacksaw was requisition, ed and Mr Burns was cut free after twenty minutes’ work, being conscious throughout the ordeal. He was rushed to the hospital where the rod, which had damaged the wall of the jugular vein, was removed. His condition is serious.
