JOTTINGS FROM WORLD’S PRESS. Budapest authorities say that there arei more than 380,000,000 unmarried women in the world. Murli, a tomcat belonging to the prietor of a grocery shop in Vienna, is believed by its owner to be one of the largest in the world. He weighs 171 b. Disappointed at the marks given to hid 11-year-old son in school, a shoemaker of Holton (Indiana), aged 65, shot two school officials dead—and then committed suicide. In a New York warehouse is a 1903 motor car which has only been driven 790 miles. For 25 years it has been in the storehouse, and the owner has paid storage; charges on it. He is said to have some fondly sentimental memories concerning the car. Josef Wyrobek, aged 40. of Warsaw, enjoys a peculiar diet. While he was resisting arrest, handcuffs were put on him. but he* promptly broke these and swallowed them. When taxed by the judge, he boasted of his “ostrich” digestion, ami claimed that before the war he used to' swallow coins and watches. He was sene to prison for a month in which to digest the handcuffs. If a man has insomnia he can’t help it. but he has no right to make his wife walk the floor with him to keep him company. A judicial opinion to this effect has been given in Chicago. The court gave a divorce to Mrs. Irene Walden, who testified that her husband made her walk the floor with him from the time of their marriage in 1925 until 1930, when she alleged he deserted her. A baby carriage dealer stated at Brentford County Court that the low birth rate was partly to blame for his business failure. He was Mr. Allen .Charles Bemlall.. of Kalina. whcwe liabilities amounted to £283 10/, anil net assets estimated at £ll.l 8/. Mr. Bemlall said that there was a reduced demand for perambulators. The assistant official receiver stated that a sum sufficient to clear all tho liability had been deposited by Mr. Bendall owing to the generosity of friend*.
