Constable Leaps from Police Car. LONDON, June 26. A constable's jump from a police car |to the running-board of a stolen car j while both vehicles were travelling at nearly sixty miles an hour was described at the London Sessions. Edward Mansell, aged twenty-seven, Edward Flerbert, aged twenty-three, and Walter Patrick Cleary, aged j twenty-two, were each sentenced to j fifteen months’ hard labour for steal- j ing a car and being in possession of j housebreaking implements by night. i Police Constable Alfred Miller said ; that the stolen car was pursued at be- I tween 55 and 60 miles an hour along I the Wandsworth Road. “ I mounted the running-board of j the stolen car and broke the rear off- ! side window with my truncheon,” j said Miller. “ The driver swerved towards the I police car. I fell between the two ' vehicles to the ground, but hung to j the door of the police car. The stolen i car then stopped after going a few j yards.” ‘
