AT RICCARTON.

Drumfire Goes Fast in Sprint. A hard frost at Riccarton was followed by pleasant conditions. The No. 7 grass was available for fast work and was used by candidates for Trentham. Chief Light and Strong Light were let off with half a mile at three-quarter pace. Heather Glow and Zeebrugge ran five furlongs in lmin 4 2-ssec. Drumfire slipped over half a mile in 48 3-ssec. Errantry took 53sec over a similar task. Thurina * went over six furlongs in lmin 24sec. Nightly and St Joan galloped six furlongs in lmin 17 2-ssec. Tea Garden and Hounslow did pace work on the sand. Lady Valkyrie, riddejp by H. Turner, jumped a round of the hurdles and did it well.
