THE WINTER SHOW.

Many Applications for Space. At a meeting of the space, finance and building committees of the Winter Show reports were received concerning the space applications to date. It was found that there were in the meantime more applications than the committee could deal with, the demand for space from the manufacturers, for whom the exhibition is primarily organised, being exceptionally heavy, indicating a varied and exceptionally good Winter Show of industries. The Publicity and Entertainments Committee presented comprehensive reports indicating that the new entertainment features, for which a special stage 75ft by 14ft is being erected, will be more than usually attractive. Tug-of-war competitions from selected teams, special mannequin displays in conjunction with Messrs T. C. Williamson, Ltd., bands and orchestra performances, dancing and physical culture, being included. Visitors to the exhibition will be given an opportunity of estimating the attendances, special prizes being offered for the nearest estimate. Subject to permission by the City Council, an annexe covering half the length of the building will be specially built for sideshows, and an entirely new attraction. introducing winter fairyland, will be provided. For this the admission charge for children will be one penm-. The chairman, Mr C. H. Burson, at the end of the meeting, expressed gratification at the extraordinarily good work being done by the committees, and the fact that everything pointed to the probability of the Wunter Show being one of the most successful yet held. Cookery, Needlework, etc. Competitors in the cookery, preserves, art needlework and handcraft sections of the Wunter Show and Exhibition should see that their entries are completed not later than Fridav, July 14.
