TROUBLE IN PARISH.
Synod Committee to Make Inquiry. Per Press Association. HAMILTON, July S. At the Waikato Synod yesterday’ a special committee was set up to inquire into the circumstances at the Cambridge parish with a view to arriving at an amicable settlement of the trouble there. The Rev G. Gordon Bell, vicar of Cambridge, has announced his intention of taking legal action against the Bishop of Waikato in both the Civil and the Ecclesiastical Courts. In an explanation made this week, Mr Bell said: ”My main reason for not allowing acton to be taken earlier has been my desire (for the honour of Cambridge and the Church in general) to give ample time for the putting right of things wrong in my parish by- those concerned in causing trouble in the Church, in order that the Church maybe saved the scandal that is likely- to ensue when details of the treatment meted out to me and to the parish are made public.” Mr Bell some months ago was relieved of the position of Archdeacon of Waikato.
