HOUSING PROBLEM.
Advice to be Given Relief Workers. A special officer has been appointed at the central depot in Kilmore Street to deal with difficulties arising out of housing, and his advice will be at the disposal of relief workers. This* fact was mentioned this morning the secretary of the Businessmen’s Committee (Mr M. E. Lyons), who added that the officer would pay attention to the housing problem, particularly in relation to rents. Mr Lyons further stated that to facilitate the delivery of boots obtained in the recent postmen’s drive the committee had given authority to have portion of the repair work carried out bv ordinary boot repairers in the city. This action was being taken with the dual object of assisting some of the small boot repairers and of expediting the issue of boots. The committee, said Mr Lyons, had received a truck of coal from the Kaitangata mine.
