(Special to the “Star.’’) AUCKLAND, July 3. The first call of the week opened quietly. The banking section was easier with fewer buyers offering. New Zealands Were in steady request at the ten o'clock call at £2 7s 9d, but Commercials sold lower at 16s. Insurances and Government stocks were unchanged. In the mining section, buyers for Alexanders dropped out, and Waihis were easier with sellers at £1 Is Bd. In the miscellaneous sections there were few changes, brokers being satisfied to reinstate week-end quotations. OKARITO RETURN. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, July 3. The Okarito return is S3oz 2dwts for 120 hours’ working. AUSTRALIAN PROPOSAL. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, July 2. A conference of Federal and State representatives yesterday discussed the wheat problem. It is understood that the Federal Government recommended that export be restricted for two years until the world's surplus is absorbed. Another proposal was a 10 per cent reduction, provided other wheat countries made equitable reductions and lowered their import duties. Mr Lyons promised to cable the resolution to Mr Bruce, and the Federal Cabinet will to-day discuss the resolution and Mr Bruce’s reply. GOLDEN SANDS. LTD. O Advice to hand from Golden Sands, Ltd., states that the return for forty shifts is 37 ounces 4 pennyweights. PROPERTY sales. They also report that lettings for the month of June were very brisk, they having let three suites of offices, five shops and thirty-four unfurnished and furnished houses during that period. 6 POULTRY AND EG-G-S. The Panterbury Co-operative Poultry Producers, Ltd., report that excellent yardings of poultry are still being maintained. Competition especially for boilers and well finished chicken is very keen, and total clearances have been made at satisfactory prices.
