THEFT ALLEGED.

Prominent Solicitor Before the Court. ADMITTED TO BAIL. A well-known solicitor, Huddart Richard Sampson, appeared in the Magistrate's Court this morning charged with the theft on May 19 of £BSO, the property of Alice Anne Womersley and was remanded until July 11 on the application of Chief-Detective Dunlop. Mr Hampton, counsel for accused, made application for bail. The Magistrate asked if any further amount was involved. m “ The amount will be roughly £I4OO, ’ said the Chief Detective, “ but I might mention that accused came in and gave himself up at the detective office this morning. We have no objection to bail.” Bail was allowed in £2OO and one surety of £2OO.
