“ Cosmic Rays Shoot Through All of Us.” SCIENTIST'S STATEMENT. (Special to-the '‘Star.’’) NEW YORK, May 10. Dr Irving Langmuir, who holds the Nobel Prize for Chemistry, stated in an address at the Columbia Engineering School that the entire mental and physical make-up of human kind is due to “ individual atomic phenomena/' the effect of which is entirely unpre- ; dictable. Professor Einstein had dej monstrated that *‘ no natural law has j absolute validity,” from which he ; argued that ‘‘ in no absolute sense can j anything ever be predicted accurately/’ j “We can never predict absolutely ; what any human being will do.” said iDr Langmuir. “ There are cosmic I rays shooting through all of us, and I when this ray hits a cell it kills or modifies it. All of us come into existence through germ cells. A ray hitting that cell changes it materially, and may determine characteristics, personality and physical stature. Some people are born with six fingers. Experiments have proved that the act of the ray striking a cell may cause that kind of effect.”
