Nerine Ficifolia.
A Garden Corner
'J'HIS dwarf-growing member of the Guernsey lily family deserves great attention as few flowers of so beautiful a form are available at this time of year. It is perhaps the daintiest of the family, in colour an attractive pink, and makes a very fine
edging to a bed. All the nerines flower best when they are potbound or have been planted some years. They like a hot, dry position, and should be watered only when the flower stems appear in March, and continued with judicious feeding until the foliage withers in spring. This attention and a good sun baking of the bulbs during December and January, will ensure good flowering results, whether they are pot grown or in the border outside. But don’t plant them in a damp, rich soil, or they will flower but sparingly. For cut flower purposes, the nerine has wonderful lasting powers. They come from South Africa. T. D. LENNIE.
