Methylated Spirits Addict Fined. Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., presided at a sitting of the Police Court this mornmSamuel Robert Prisk, aged fifty-nine, a tinsmith, was fined 20s, in default forty-eight hours’ imprisonment for drunkenness. On a charge of being an incorrigible rogue, he was remanded to appear to-morrow. Senior-Sergeant Fox stated that apparently the man was a victim of the methylated spirits habit. He was arrested yesterday in a private garden in a drunken condition. There was an empty bottle of methylated spirits alongside him. Domestic Remanded. Vivienne Atlee-Hunt, a domestic, aged twenty-seven, appeared on a charge of stealing £l, the property of one Sladen, by wilfully omitting to account for that sum to Anetta Clifford. She was remanded until April 27. Bail was allowed in self £25 and one surety of £25. Committed for Trial. Walter Selwyn Furrian Anderson, a salesman, aged 37 years, pleaded not guilty to a charge of indecent exposure and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. The Magistrate said that as Anderson was already awaiting trial on another charge he would make tho bail nominal in this case, self £25 and one surety of £25. Further Remand. Brian Charles McCarthy, aged 23 years, a labourer, who appeared on remand, was further remanded until April 24. He was charged with stealing an overcoat and suit, valued at £8 14s. the property of Samuel Beatty, on April 11. He pleaded guilty to a charge that in the name of William Wallace he drove a car in Christchurch last December, at a speed dangerous to the public. On this charge, a fine of £2 and costs was imposed. To Go to Supreme Court. Benjamin John O’Connell, a miner, forty years of age, of no fixed abode, pleaded not guilty to a charge of being a rogue and a vagabond in that he was found on enclosed premises on Racecourse Road, New Brighton, on April 13. He elected to be tried by a Jury and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
