FAILURE TO PAY LEVY.

Unemployment Cases Heard To-day. A number of cases under the LTnemployment Act were heard in the Magistrate’s Court this morning before Mr H. P La wry, S.M. The following fines were imposed for failing to pay instalments of the unemployment levies:—Nelson Henry Francis Bethwaite, 10s and costs on two charges, and convicted and discharged on two others; Charles Valvmtine Atkins, convicted and discharged on eight charges; William George Bowron, convicted and discharged on five charges: Cecil Mark Brown, 10s and costs on two and convicted and discharged on two; John Daniel Carney, convicted ancl discharged oa eight: Stanley Darrell, lOs and costs on one. and seven others adjourned; Leo John Erickson. 10s and costs on two and ordered to pay costs on two: Albert Ernest Leggett, convicted and discharged on five, and Peter Taylor, convicted and discharged on two. James Morton Davidson was convicted and ordered to come ttp for sentence within twelve months if called upon, on charge of making a false statement. He was ordered to make restitution of £23.
