“SUITS” FOR WOMEN.
New Fashion Arrives in Sydney. SYDNEY, April 3. As souvenir of her recent world tour. Miss Sylvia Newland, Dobro\’d Point, has brought back something new to Sydney in feminine attire—a- suit a la male. Miss Newland saw Marlene Dietrich weaT one of the new suits at Hollywood and was impressed by the rational nature of the garb and the fact that it did not suppress the feminine charm of the wearer. “ When I noticed that lots of the smart Fifth Avenue stores in New York featured the suits, my mind was made up,” she said. Velvet, particularly black, was popular with designers, who turned out suits for evening, cocktail parties and other occasional wear. “ Sydne> r girls are more conservative in their frocking than their American cousins.” Miss Newland said, “but I think, if given a lead they would welcome ‘ the suits ’ for sports occasions.”
