NEW TRAWLER LAUNCHED.
I The Stina. a new trawler built for Messrs R. E. and L. L. Hayward, of Dunedin, to fish between Akaroa and Bluff, has been launched at Port Chalmers. The new vessel will supply the Dunedin market, but if the opportunity offers, may extend its operations to Lyttelton. The owners expect to begin trawling this week. The Stina, which was built by Miller and Tunnage, Ltd., is 50ft long overall, has a 12ft Gin beam, and a draught of 6ft 6in. When entirely fitted out it will have a displacement of nearly twentj' tons. A 30 h-p. Bolinders crude oil engine is fitted and is expected to "give the vessel a speed of about eight knots. In addition the trawler will carry a full suit of sails in schooner rig. The forward hold which is to be used for storing fish has been insulated throughout with cork, and has a freezing capacity of five tons, which allows of a greater cruising range than is possible with most trawlers.
