TENNIS PRESENTATION.

Mr Patterson Honoured by Players. Mr T. W. Patterson was the guest of twenty of the senior tennis players of Canterbury this afternoon at Wilding Park, when a progressive doubles tourney was played on the grass courts. Mr Patterson, who has been a prominent player in the province for a number of years, is to be married next week. At the afternoon tea interval Mr W. Goss, sen., on behalf of the players, presented Mr Patterson with a handsome wall mirror in token of their esteem and friendship. Mr Goss referred to Mr Patterson’s qualities of sportsmanship, stating that he had always played tennis as it should be played, and won or lost with a smile. He wished him happiness and success in his married life.
