TEACHER FAREWELLED.
(Special to the “ Star.*’) NELSON, April 7. At the close of school yesterday afternoon a pleasant function took place at the Central School when the staff and scholars met to bid farewell to Miss K. Shirtcliff who is leaving New Zealand for a tour of Europe. Mr FI. Wood, chairman of the school committee, and Mr M’Clune spoke in eulogistic terms of the good work Miss Shirtcliff had done in the teaching profession in Nelson, where she has been for many years. Each child that had been taught by Miss Shirtcliff in the Central School shook hands and wished her Godspeed. A beautiful travelling clock was presented to Miss Shirtcliff from the staff.
