SOCCER CODE.

English Side Wanted by New Zealand. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 7. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Football Association to-night, Mr B. L. Salmon, speaking of the proposed visit of an English team next season, said that the offer from the Australian Association was that New Zealand pay £3OOO, plus travelling and other expenses. Compared with the offer made by Australia in 1925, the present offer was £2OOO better. If an English team .was obtained, it would be possible to make a few thousands out of it. Mr J. M. Hayward suggested that the manager of the New Zealand team, while in Australia, should recommend to the Australian Association, in the event of not getting satisfaction regarding the visit of a team from England or Scotland, that they should extend an invitatation to Austria, Spain or some other European country. He believed that those countries could send teams capable of looking after themselves. North v. South Match. The following team was selected to represent the North Island 'in the Soccer match, North v. South, at Wellington on Easter Saturday:—Quill (Auckland), Stone and Gerrard (Auckland), J. M’Leod (Wellington.), Christie, captain (Auckland) and Crabbe (South Auckland), Barton (Wellington), M. Condon (Wellington, Leslie (Wellington), Kershaw (Wellington) and Kay (Auckland).
