CHARGE DISMISSED.

♦ A charge against Louris Newfield, a watersider, of stealing a bottle of whisky, valued at 10s. from the hatch of the Port Fremantle, was dismissed in the Lyttelton Magistrate’s Court this morning by Messrs W. T. Lester and J. T. Norton, J.P. s. The Bench, after hearing evidence, found that there was insufficient proof to warrant a conviction.
