IDEAS CONFLICT.

American Beer Bill in Dispute. CONFERENCE ARRANGED. L'nited Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received March 18, 2 p.m.) WASHINGTON. March 17. The House of Representatives to-day rejected the Senate amendment to the Beer Bill providing for the inclusion of wine and sent it to a conference to compose the differences between the two branches of the legislature. The aim is to have the dispute ironed out in conference by committees of the Senate and the House on Monday and theai send the Bill to White House so that President Roosevelt may sign it, thereby making it possible to put the beverage on sale and begin getting taxes from it by April 4. It is not clear at the present stage which side will prevail in conference—the Senate 3.05 per cent Bill allowing wine and forbidding its sale to minors, or the House’s measure permitting a stronger brew. The spokesmen for the two branches have definitely conflicting ideas.
