TO FRANZ JOSEF

Mr J. C. Mercer Makes Trip To-morrow. The air trip to the Franz Josef Glacier from Christchurch is proving very popular, according to Mr J. C. Mercer, instructor to the Canterburv Aero Club. Mr Mercer has taken five passengers there during the past two months, and provided conditions arc suitable, will take a passenger to the glacier to-morrow morning. Mr Mercer was to have made the trip to-day, but the weather report was not favourable. 11 is passenger is to be Miss M. Smith, of Christchurch. It is Mr Mercer’s intention to try out the direct route over the Whitcombe Pass, instead of flying over the longer Arthur’s Pass route. The scenery over the Whitcombe Pass country is described as magnificent. The return trip can be made in a day.
