Ashburton Club. (Special to the “ Star.’*) ASHBURTON. March 7. A meeting of the Ashburton Athletic and Cycling Club was held to-night, the president. Mr J. W. Smith, presiding. It was decided to hold the final of the series of evening meetings on Wednesday, March 15. The events will include 100yds, 220yds and SSOyds running, half-mile and one mile cycling, relay. Ashburton v. Rakaia and two primary school races. The secretary was instructed to approach the Canterbury Amateur Centre asking permission for Miss F. Ciudsell to give an exhibition run at the final meeting, also lor permission for the Ashburton Club to pay a return visit to Binwood. It was decided to approach the Ashburton Sports Association for the use of the Domain oval for a half-day inerting before Easter. The programme will include a relay for juvenile lodges and an “old-timers’” cycle race.
