NO VOTE TAKEN.
Long Debate on Question of Unemployment. LABOUR’S CRITICISM. (“Star” Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, March 7. The House had a long debate on the subject of unemployment to-day, when the Prime Minister allowed the unemployment Board’s report to be discussed. The position of the unemployment funds was set out by the Hon A. Hamilton, and Mr Holland, leader of the Opposition, moved what was tantamount to a no-confidence motion. After a day-long discussion no vote was taken, the report and motion being talked out at the dinner adjournment. The debate, however, permitted over twenty members to express their views on this subject, but little original matter was brought to light, speeches keeping closely in line with those of the leaders.
