“FLAG” FIVE HUNDRED.
Mesdames C. Thorn and H. Watt were joint hostesses at a “ flag ** five hundred evening given at the residence of Mr and Mrs E. Thorn, Windermere Road, Papanui, on Thursday evening. The proceeds will go towards one of the stalls at the forthcoming St John Ambulance fair. The prizewinners were Mesdames Neilson, Drury, Miss N. Hill, Messrs A. Fraser and J. Bishop. Consolation prizes went to Mesdames Owens, Faith and Reynolds, Miss G. Watt and Mr H. Watt. Mrs F. Bishop, lady district superintendent, in presenting the prizes, spoke of Mrs I Thorn’s long association with the society and the worthy object for which the funds were being raised. She also thanked all those present for their help. Among those present were: Mr and Mrs F. T. Bishop, Mr and Mrs E. Thorn, Mr and Mrs H. Watt, Mr and Mrs G. Fowler, Mr and Mrs Hookham, Mr and Mrs Syme, Mr and Mrs M’Kenzie, Mr and Mrs Good, Mesdames Speirs, R. Moore, Reynolds, Greenslade, Skelton, Thomson, Schaffer, Witty, Coradine, Derrett, Owen, Faith, Nancarrow, Tillman, Garrett, Neilson, F. Drurv, Misses IT. Cosgrove T. Fraser, M. Fraser. T,. Winny, Yarr, Nancy Hill, Noeline Hill, Wolidge, O. Watt, E. Watt, Eaton, Messrs J. Forbes, G. T. Bishop, A. Fraser, A. Thorn, J. Thorn and S. Watt.
