SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC.
The annual picnic of the Beckenham Methodist Sunday School was held in the grounds of Mr Cracroft Wilson, Cashmere. During the afternoon a sports programme was run off, and the prizes were presented by the Rev Basil Metson. The results were as follows: Girls—Primary department. Joy Kent. Seven to eight years: Athole Frazer 1. Mary Mari’ 2. Nine to ten years: Allison Stewart 1, Marie Banfield 2. Eleven to thirteen years: Peggy Banfield 1, Ngaire Lye 2. Bible Class: Margaret Dann. Married women: Mrs Watson and Mrs Stewart (equal) 1. Three-legged lace: Dorothy Allen and Ngaire Lye. Cup of water race: Dorothy Allen. Boys’ Events—Primary department: Douglas Redmond 1. Seven to eight years: Clarence Crc-ft 1, Keith Richards 2. Nine to ten years: Bcvan Lye 1, Robert Allen 2. Eleven to thirteen years: Maurice Richardson 1, John Jarman 2. Junior Bible Class: Douglas Lane 1. Senior Bible Class: Rex Metson 1. Married men: Mr Daue 1. Threelegged race: Donald Storrie and Ron Crimp 1. Wheelbarrow race: Wilson Frazer and Bernie Jarman 1. Couples’ Novelty Race: Mr and Mrs Fletcher 1, Mrs Kent and Mr Smith 2.
