STORMY PASSAGE.

73 Days Without Touching Land. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 8. There are three passengers, including a woman, on the Finnish barque Passat, which arrived from the Seychelles after a stormy voyage of seventy-three days without touching port. They are : Mr N. Hughes, of Birkenhead, England, who is travelling for his health; Captain M. C. M’Clenahan, a retired master mariner, who is making the round voyage; and Miss C. A. Nichojls, of Auckland, who some time ago went for a trip to the Seychelles and found that the only way of getting back to Auckland was by the barque. The passengers have all enjoyed the trip, though it was very rough at times. Off Tasmania the barque encountered a storm with a gale of ninety miles an hour, the decks being continually awash. The main articles of food for the passengers were salt beef, salt pork,

fish and margarine in place of butter, and when the vessel arrived later than was anticipated there was only a week’s supply of food left. The barque will return to England via Australia, cgjjipleting a 40,000 miles round trip.
