Government Forecast.
(Special to the “ Star.”) WELLINGTON, January 25. General inference—The meteorological situation has changed little since yesterday, an area of high pressure still extending over the Tasman Sea and New Zealand. Extensive depressions continue to produce disturbed weather in Australia, but their eastward movement is likely to be slow. Forecast—Light to moderate, and variable winds, with southerlies prevailing. Weather—Mainly fine, with warm day but moderate night temperatures. Isolated local showers possible along the foothills. Seas—A moderate swell.
