RESTAURANT WORKERS.
New Conditions of Work Discussed. Representatives of the employers and workers concerned with the restaurant and tearooms award met in the Conciliation Council Hfesterday to discuss new conditions. Mr Ritchie, Conciliation Commissioner, presided. When the council resumed In the afternoon, after a two-hour adjournment, the discussion, was continued on wages, the employers making certain concessions. The Ttours of work and holiday clause was-allowed by the employers to stand as in the old award. The chief concessions offered by the employers on wages were the substitution ofu increment*, half-yearly instead of vear»y, and the withdrawal of certain age lirpitK * in. wages. The council finally adjourned till February 8 to allow both sides to put the new proposals before their organisations.
