WHEAT SURPLUS.

Equalisation Levy to Defray Cost. The manager of the Wheat Board, Mr R. M’Pherson, said yesterday that the equalisation levy of Is 3d a bushel on wheat sold this year would be used entirely to pay for the estimated surplus. In view of the large proportion of the surplus to the required amount of milling wheat, the levy was not large. There were also some small charges to be met such as the possible storage and insurance rates on the wheat, and also the administration of the board. The administration charges would not amount to more than about a half* [penny a bushel.
