GIRLS’ COLLEGE JUBILEE
Of special interest to the past students of the Wellington Girls’ College, formerly known as the Girls’ High School, are the jubilee celebrations which are to be held early in February. The college is one of the foundation schools for secondary education in the Dominion, and laterally thousands of girls have passed through its doors. The first principal was Miss Hamilton, who had among members of her staff Dr J. Tnnes, mow resident in Auckland. Mrs Fell and Mr Robert Parker, of Wellington, and Mrs Alan Mulgan, of Auckland. Miss Hamilton was followed by Miss Mary M’Lean, C.8.E., M.A., who was principal for twentv-five years, and after ber came Miss V. M. Greig, late of the Napier High School. To mark the jubilee, it is planned that memorials in the shape of a bronze tablet for the names of the principals shall be placed in the college, suitable school gates to be erected emblazoned with the college crest and motto, and, if possible, with the assistance of present girls, the erection of a low brick wall in place, of the present fence.
