Every year the West of England receives 20 inches more rain than the East.
* A “ cur ” is a curtailed, or cut, dog. According to forest laws, a man who had no right to the privilege of the chase was obliged to cut, or law, his dog. One 0F the methods of preventing his disturbing the game was to deprive him of his tail. He thus became a " cur ” —a curtailed dog.
