“ SECRET SERVICE.”
The American Civil War provides a pefeet background for “ Secret -Service,” starring Richard Dix, which heads the attractive programme at the Grand •1 heatre this week. Of the many pictures of this type which have appeared in Christchurch during recent months, • Secret Service ” is easily the best. The film gives an excellent idea of the working of America’s great silent force —the secret service—and the constant menace of discovery and betrayal leads up to an intensely dramatic conclusion'. The cast includes Shirley Grey, William Post, jun., and Gavin Gordon. The first chapter of an exciting new serial, ‘‘ Danger Island,” heads a good supporting programme, which includes another chapter of the British serial- “ Detective Lloyd.”
