WOMEN’S CLUB IS CLOSED
The Lyceum, the pioneer women’s club of London and famous to professional women all over the world, has closed its doors. Its address—l3B Piccadilly—has alwa> s been the headquarters of a brilliant group of women artists, musicians, writers and sculptors. Now—because of financial difficulties —the big wrought-iroh doors of the club are closed, the blinds are drawn, and the big lounge with its deep leather chairs and practical writing tables is empty. The Alonday night dinners at the Lyceum Club have been for years a feature of London life, and every distinguished stranger visiting in town was entertained there. It has always seemas solid as the Bank of England. Difficulties came to the club when one of its members, Miss Susan Clegg, died. She had advanced £23,000 on mortgage to secure the leasehold, although she often declared that she never wanted the sum repaid. However, she died a few months ago without making a will. Now the club is moving to new quarters to become affiliated with the Garden Club,
