MASONIC OFFICER’S DEATH.

(Special to the “ Star/*) DUNEDIN, January 16. The death has occurred of Mr Arthur Clothier, aged 81, formerly of the Land and Income Tax Department at Wellington and latterly Officer in Charge of the Department at Dunedin and Christchurch. Mr Clothier was wellknown in Masonic circles and was installed as Worshipful Master of Lodge Leinster, No. 44, in 1896. Among other Masonic distinctions conferred on him were those of Grand Organist and As-sistant-Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand. He also held the office of first Grand Principal of the Supreme Grand Chapter of New Zealand in 1910, and continued to be an active member of the Royal Arch Chapter, No. 7, until his death.
