HOTTEST SINCE 1927.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, January 16. The temperature in the shade at 10.30 a.m. was 81.3 degrees, the highest recorded at the Kelburn Observatory since 1927. The conditions in various parts of the city, however, differ greatly. In the city streets, away from the breeze, it is very hot.
