DEOWNED IN RIVER. NELSON, January 13. Benjamin Arthur Oriffin, aged sixteen, a son of Mr A. R. Oriffin, Nelson, was drowned in the Motueka .River at Ngatimoti yesterday. He was swimming in attempting to cross the river, and when 40 yards across got into difficulties near the middle, and disappeared. The body was located near the point of his sinking, about 20 minutes afterwards. TEST CRICKET. The third Test has commenced at Adelaide. England won the toss • j nd batted.
