Diiptuary, The. monthly meeting of the board of management will . be held to-night in the Dispensary Board Room at 7.30 p.m. X.O.XE. Pride of Christchurch Tent.—The Chief Ruler, Brother W. A. Bascand, presided over the first meeting of the new year, and one new member was initiated, and one accepted on transfer. A report of the New Brighton social was given by Brother C. H. Bascand, and Brother W. D. Bunt reported on the Provincial Council. The reports were received and the brothers thanked. An invitation was accepted to attend the Riccarton Tent’s church parade on Sunday, January 15. The opening of the Ark of Refuge Juvenile Tent was reported by Brother J. Jackson, and it was resolved to send a letter of congratulation to the new tent. Arrangements were being made for the annual picnic at Shipley's Run on Saturday, • Fe>bruarj r 11. Brothers C. H. Bascand and H. W. Calvert were elected delegates to the United Medical and Hospital Board. Sister Coulter (Hope of Dunedin Tent) responded ta the hearty welcome accorded to her, and at the conclusion or the lodge business a pleasant hour was spent in games. philipson Tent—Brother T. E. Lassure, Chief -Ruler, -presided over the meeting on Thursday, when Sister Dellj tendered a report on the Juvenile Christmas treat. Two candidates (one a Juvenile on transfer) were initiated. Sisters Bell and Martin were thanked for their reports on the Provincial Colineil meeting. Brother Perritt reported on the meeting of the Friendly Societies’ Council. It was decided to hold a Jumble sale on February 18, and a “ bring and buy ” evening on March 16. The proceeds of these events will be devoted to a fund to assist Sister F. .. Judkins to proceed to England for. vocal studies. At the close of ths even-'' ing-s business an enjoyable time was spent relating holiday experiences.
U.A.O.D. Olive Branch. —There was a fair attendance of members at the Parish Hall, Hornby. The Arch Druid, Brother J. r,yall, presided, and extended the lodge’s congratulations and a heartv welcome to District President Brother H. Fletcher, this being the first official visit of the newly elected D.P. A.O.P. Court Star of Canterbury.—Chief Ranger, Brother S. H. Ashby, presided over the annual meeting and election of officers in the Foresters’ Hall. Two candidates were proposed to membership and approved. Brother F. J. Weakley, P.C.R., installing officer, and. Brother J. Wathen, P.S., installed the following officers: Chief Ranger, Brother C. Cater; Sub-Chief Ranger, Brother B. H. Court Papanui.—The annual meeting was presided over by Brother G. A. Foster, Chief Ranger, and £6 5s sick pay was passed for payment. A letter was received from the Hospital Board drawing attention of doctors to the unnecessary cases being sent to the outpatients’ department. The letter was referred to the United Friendly Societies’ Council, as it was the opinion of members that this body should deal with this matter. It was reported that the Christmas tree function had been successful. The election .of officers was held. Brother G. Sey acted as installing officer and Brother A. Baker as marshal, and the following officers were installed:—C.R., Brother O Callaghan; S.C.R., Brother Cowles; S.W., Brother Holden; J.W., Brother Fairbrass: 5.8.. Lilv of Sydenham.—Brother T. le Comte presided, and two new members were initiated. A hearty -welcome was extended to Brother Ford of Sumner Pride Temple, and the superintendent congratulated f °" their success in winning the cup for outdoor sports. A meeting of honorary members was held to consider arrangements for the concert to be held on February 22. Next meeting is honorary members’ night, and the seniors will entertain. At the close of the business an enjoyable hour was spent in items and games. M.U., 1.0.0. T. Doyal City of Christchurch. —The annual report and balance-sheet was* Presented at the meeting, over which N.g. Brother C. Chivers presided. The membership is 696, with 1100 on the books, and the total assets of the lodge amount to £27,580. Investments show a good .interest-bearing rate.
