Steady Work on New Marine Drive. The work of metalling the Lyttelton Borough Council’s portion of the new marine drive between Diamond Harbour and Church Bay is proceeding steadily. Unemployment labour is being used. So far a start has not been made with the metalling of the other portion of the road under the control if the Mount Herbert County Council, but it is anticipated t£at the Public Works Department will shortly take it in hand with unemployed labour. The Mount Herbert County Council will assist the department by lending its stone crusher and motor tractor. Suitable stone far metalling the road has been conserved out of the metal that was dug out when the road was being formed. la>yal Kia Toe Lodge. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Kia Toa Lodge, M.U J.0.0.F., was held on Monday evening, N.G., Sister M. Dug presiding over a fair attendance of sisters. Sick pay was passed for payment. It was decided to hold a degree lecture on Thursday evening. After the business those present enjoyed a moonlight walk to Evans Pass. It was agreed to hold a picnic at Corsair Bay after the next meeting. Children’s Christmas Tree. A final meeting of the combined committee of the Mothers’ Club and the Relief Workers' Social Club, was held on Monday evening, Mrs M’Gilp presiding. The balAce-sheet of the Christmas Tree party was read and adopted. A resolution was passed thanking all donors for their assistance in helping to make the Christmas tree a success. Boy Scouts in Camp. A troop of Addington Boy Scouts and the Lyttelton Cubs are at present encamped at Charteris Bay. A number of the Lyttelton Scouts will also pitch camp there on Saturday.
