ROKEBY SCHOOL PICNIC.

The annual picnic of the M° k ehy was held on Thursday, at t j!e school. Therewas a large attendance of parents and friends. ~ menclng the programme fh# -school was hoisted by the Girl Guides. A programme of sports and races was - ried out under the supervision of mei ibers of the school committee. A display of folk dancing was given by t.i% children, and a play, Robin Hood, arranged by Miss Caskey, was much a. - predated. Afternoon tea was nerved and the prizes won during the year we e presented. Mr Tjangley, chairman *r the school committee, congratulated ti e teachers on the excellent work doi-e during the year, and thanked the donois of special prizes. In the absence of Mis Langley through illness, the prizes were presented by Mrs J. C. Irwin. Bpeci.il prizes were awarded for gardening and sewing, and each child was presented with a book, and a bag of sweets, fruit, and nuts. The special prizes for gardening were awarded to Colin Cromle, Jim Cromie, and Reg Wilkinson (first class) and Albert Copland. Don Penm > and Allan Magson (second class). Sewing prizes were awarded as follows: — Standards V and VI —Rona Gimson 1. Adeline Cromie 2. Standards 111 and IV—Svlvia Burgess 1, Marjorie Honeywell 2. Standard ll—Edna Watson. Standard I—Noreen Langley 1. Coral Magson 2. Infants—Yvonne Cronile 1, Olive Copland 2. In the evening a dan* was held to music supplied by Mr A. riuck. Mr G. Hooper was M.C.
